The most obvious hint is the high enduro-style front fender and 21\/18-inch spoked wheel setup replacing the current 390 Adventure\u2019s 19\/17-inch cast alloy wheels. This difference has long been a segregating factor between KTM\u2019s street-biased base models and its more aggressive R variants, currently offered as a 690 Adventure Enduro R, 890 Adventure R and 1290 Super Adventure R.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large discrete-caption\"><img data-large-img=\"https:\/\/www.advpulse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/KTM-390-Adventure-R-spied-1.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"689\" src=\"https:\/\/www.advpulse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/KTM-390-Adventure-R-spied-1.jpg\" alt=\"KTM 390 Adventure R spotted\" class=\"wp-image-86274\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.advpulse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/KTM-390-Adventure-R-spied-1-768x517.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.advpulse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/KTM-390-Adventure-R-spied-1-262x176.jpg 262w, https:\/\/www.advpulse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/KTM-390-Adventure-R-spied-1-561x377.jpg 561w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 915px) 768px, 561px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Photo:&nbsp;Benhard M. Hohne\/BMH-Images<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And then there\u2019s a modified steel trellis frame peeking out from the crude bodywork. It appears to be the chassis setup seen on the upcoming 390 Duke prototype, which is more traditional in shape than the current frame. In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cycleworld.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cycle World<\/a>\u2019s report on this spied 390 Adventure prototype, it describes the new frame design (recently seen on 125, 250 and 390 Duke test mules) as using upper and lower main tubes of equal thickness and more delicate metalwork between, forming a triangulated layout to increase rigidity, rather than a thick upper frame tube on either side running from the swingarm pivot to the steering head, with a strengthening trellis of thinner tubing hanging below it, as we see on the current 390cc KTM bikes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large discrete-caption\"><img data-large-img=\"https:\/\/www.advpulse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/KTM-390-Adventure-R-spied-2.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.advpulse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/KTM-390-Adventure-R-spied-2.jpg\" alt=\"Dirt-focused KTM 390 Adventure R spotted\" class=\"wp-image-86275\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.advpulse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/KTM-390-Adventure-R-spied-2-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.advpulse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/KTM-390-Adventure-R-spied-2-262x197.jpg 262w, https:\/\/www.advpulse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/KTM-390-Adventure-R-spied-2-561x421.jpg 561w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 915px) 768px, 561px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Photo:&nbsp;Benhard M. Hohne\/BMH-Images<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s also a unique swing arm on this prototype that isn\u2019t a dupe of the upcoming 390 Duke\u2019s future unit. From what we can tell, this new billet aluminum design, likely machined by KTM Group-owned CNC, is more generously arched, which would increase ground clearance and accommodate longer suspension travel. The skid plate is an item currently available as a PowerParts add-on for the 390 Adventure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other interesting deviations are a higher exhaust unit and beefier engine brace than the one currently found on the 390 Adventure. Hohne\/BMH-Images<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>KTM\u2019s parent company, Pierer Mobility AG, has been busy trotting out several new models and freshly-spied prototypes, such as the next-gen 890 Adventure and its<a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> new street-focused sibling<\/a> we\u2019re expecting in 2023.
